Elementary Field Trip to the Batik Factory
In line with the programme’s
structure of providing exposure in using English in the real
world, the Intensive English Elementary students went on a field
trip to the Batik Factory to witness firsthand on the production
of batik material. The students were fascinated with the various
processes in the production of batik from outlining the design in
melted wax to the various stages of colouring and dyeing the batik
cloth and finally drying the masterpiece. On the way back to KDU,
the students stopped by the beach for a breather and one student
took the opportunity to go riding. The beauty of the beach and the
various outdoor activities offered from riding to parasailing was
a perfect end to a field trip which offers great educational
opportunities to practice the language for everyone.
