Students from
Higher Intermediate (August 2009) ‘scrambled’ for a date with Ms.
Jasamine as one of the class activities conducted on 27 August 2009.
The activity was simple: the students had to advertise themselves in
the most appealing, convincing and creative manner so that Ms.
Jasamine can select one of them for a lunch date. Students had to use
their persuasive skills, powerful vocabulary (pre-exposed to them in
class in another fun activity) and their charm to attract Ms.
Jasamine. The session exploded in laughter as students portrayed
themselves as single ladies and men trying to date Ms. Jasamine. At
the end of the lesson, with this simple activity, students were able
to write persuasively, promote themselves creatively using vocabulary
related to the topic ‘The Best of Me’ and use adjectives correctly.
Two winners were
selected and they were Pim from Thailand and Yena from Korea.
See if you can be
‘charmed’ by Yena’s entry below because I was!
