Students from
Intermediate Level carried out a fun, learning activity for the month
of September 2009. The activity involved all students and the main
aim is to promote speaking skills amongst students.
Students had to introduce themselves in the most interesting manner.
They had to share on their different cultures based on their own
creative approach. Students had to use their skills to create their
own style and ways to promoting their country to all. Originality is
one of the key aspects here.
The whole session was a hilarious, fun-filled experience for all
students, as they paraded themselves in front of the class as
‘Miss/Mr. KDU’ – trying to win the hearts of the judges. All the
students had a great time.

Two winners, Azo and
Yasu were selected for being ‘best dressed’ and another two, Susan
and A for having the best pose.

From this activity,
students were able to speak effectively in public; introducing their
culture and promoting their country to the rest of the students. The
students were also able to form sentences using a variety of
vocabulary, to speak with intonation and with the accurate
pronunciation. Other skills learnt from this activity are the use of
gestures, body language and eye contact.
Last but not least, students learnt on the importance of connecting
to the public and to speak with confidence. This simple activity
indirectly promotes speaking skill, in relation to the topic
‘culture’.
Doing their best to impress others……
